ABOUT
My name is Arseny Biryukov. I’m a junior at Willows Preparatory School in Redmond, Greater Seattle Area, USA.
I became interested in history at a very young age, originally discovering my interest through a videogame. As I grew up and learnt more about history, I went on a journey of self-discovery, wanting to find out what exactly it was that interested me specifically. In 9th grade,
I participated in an online research program about international relations, a moment I now understand as a turning point in my life. Through that research program, I discovered my own passion and love for international relations. I have always believed that youth is the time to
create a solid foundation of diligence and virtue, which will come in use throughout life.
To that end, I have tirelessly and consistently sought out various events and activities to engage in which may hone my critical thinking skills, ranging from more research projects to participation in ModelUN events, all with the broader objective of increasing my understanding of international relations. As for training my leadership skills, I have taken on various responsibilities and leadership roles, tutoring both fellow peers and younger children on various topics.
When asked what I live for, I will always answer, “To become the most refined version of
myself that I can.” This striving is born not of a superficial desire to conform to the system, nor is it to please others. Rather, it is an earnest desire for growth, improvement, and, most importantly, the ability to effectuate change in wider contexts.
